Mayor McLin and Dayton-Area Leaders Endorse Fisher for U.S. Senate
Dayton Mayor Rhine McLin and seven city and Montgomery County officials endorsed Lee Fisher for U.S. Senate today, citing his unyielding efforts to drive economic development in Dayton and Montgomery County.
“Lee has been at the forefront of economic development in Montgomery County, and has been instrumental in attracting new businesses to our area and keeping good-paying jobs here,” said Mayor Rhine McLin. “We simply cannot afford to go back to the failed policies of the past that rewarded companies for shipping jobs overseas and overlooked the importance of investing in our cities and workers right here at home. Lee will bring a fresh vision to Washington focused on making Ohio the hub of the clean energy industry and ensuring that we stop trade policies that export jobs instead of Ohio products.”
As Lieutenant Governor and Director of Development, Fisher has led efforts to attract new businesses driven by innovation and cutting edge technologies that will create the jobs of the future in Montgomery County. During Fisher’s tenure, the state persuaded UltraCell Corporation to open a new facility, creating hundreds of jobs and making Dayton a hub for fuel cell production. Just last month, IDCAST opened its third office, serving as the anchor tenant in Dayton Tech Town’s first building. With the continuing support of the Strickland/Fisher Administration, IDCAST will specialize in remote sensor technologies and will help further Dayton’s leadership in aerospace innovation.
“I am grateful for the support of Mayor McLin and these respected community leaders,” Fisher said. “I look forward to continuing our work together to support research and innovation at Wright-Patterson and the development of new, clean energy industries that will fuel job growth for decades to come.”
The Dayton-area officials endorsing Fisher today include:
Mayor Rhine McLin
Montgomery County Commission President Dan Foley
Montgomery County Commissioner Debbie Lieberman
Montgomery County Commissioner Judy Dodge
Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith
Montgomery County Treasurer Carolyn Rice
Dayton City Commissioner Nan Whaley
Dayton City Commissioner Matt Joseph
