Military and Veterans

Working to fulfill our obligations to those Ohioans who are serving our country now and those who have served and sacrificed for the nation.

I believe that if you serve your country, your country must serve you. That’s the promise our country must keep to the men and women who enlist, who fight, and sacrifice for our great nation.

Much is being asked of our military, its young officers and their families as we wage two wars. While our troops are in the field, we must give them all the support and protection they need — the best body armor, the best vehicles, the latest defensive and offensive technologies. And when our troops come home, we need to ensure they and their families have the care and support they need and deserve and nothing less.

I believe the federal government has a moral obligation to live up to its commitments to the men and women who serve in our military. That is why I will be a staunch advocate for these brave men and women in the U.S. Senate.

  • Reservists are functioning as active military and are depended on as such. Therefore, it is only fair they have the same benefits as career military — both while they are serving and after they serve.
  • Veterans have fought for our freedoms and it is imperative that they are taken care of and rewarded for their noble service to our country. In the Senate, Lee will work to guarantee an adequate level of funding for the Veterans Administration, improve the quality of care veterans receive, and make sure National Guard and reservists are treated like the first-class soldiers they are when they return home.
  • Lee strongly supported the Strickland-Fisher administration’s initiative to create the new Ohio Department of Veteran Affairs.
